Keep the Music Playing in partnership with the Savannah Philharmonic
On Thursday, May 10, 2018 – six members of the Savannah Philharmonic held a class workshop for Mr. Tony Jackson’s 5th-grade music students. This classroom support was coordinated by Jeana Melilli, Education and Community Outreach Coordinator with the Savannah Philharmonic. Students worked with the musicians one-to-one and in small groups based on the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Sax, Trumpet, Trombone, and Mallets. Musicians modeled for students how to best hold and care for their instruments. Examples of practice exercises were demonstrated. We look forward to exploring the other opportunities to bring music to more children in the public schools next school year.
In partnership with the Chatham County Public School System and Portman’s Music Superstore.
Thank you to our funders the Savannah Community Foundation and the Hodge Foundation.
